Production Blog: Getting close to the end

Image
Hello bloggers! It sucks to say but this might be the last blog before finally submitting this project. It's been such a roller coaster of events but at the end of the day we were able to work through it. Our last day of making final touches was yesterday so now we are almost done to submitting. Our submission date is March 8th, so it's getting pretty close. It's kinda scary to final say that we are done because I feel like there is still some tweaks to make in the video. Also at the same time I have a feeling it's perfect so we'll see how i t goes. Me and my group are planning to meet up right before submission to look over everything. We want to make sure everything is good like the background noise, music, quality, etc. I've been watching the video over and over again so many times to see if there is anything I can talk to my group about. One thing that I noticed was that in one of the scenes it seems to get cut off a little early which I will let connie know...

Production blog: Website

Image
Hey bloggers! We're back with another blog and today is another exciting news. Today we will be talking about our new website for our own movie. As I've mentioned before we were tasked with a website and a post card with our short film. As we have just completed our post card, we had to plan on how to work on the website. The website task is a little longer than the post card, so we have to start it early. We planned to go again to Starbucks but we didn't want to do that again. What we did was we stayed at Connies house and worked on it. At first we were struggling to find a good website template but after a lot of time looking we finally found something nice. We found something that matches our theme of the movie. So after we found it we began to fill up all the information we needed for the website as we had to include a summary, facts, date of release, actors, photos, etc. It took us quite some time to work on it as we would get distracted easily. But even with distracti...

Production Blog: Post card

Image
Hello bloggers! We are back with another blog and today I have exciting news to provide to you guys. As you guys may think that this blog is about the video, well your wrong. This blog will be about a new addition to this project which is the post card. As we were assigned to make a short film, we are also assigned to make a post card and a website. So to get this started we all met up at Starbucks once again. We love going to Starbucks since it's our study spot and it also helps me focus a lot. Anyways we all sat down and decided to work on the post card. We left the website for another day since it was going to be a lot and we got to Starbucks a little late. So for the post card we had to make sure to add the publish date of the movie which would be March 8th. Then we had to include the productions which was JNC STUDIOS. Another information that we had to provide is different showtime dates which we made up. We also had to make sure that the picture in the post card matches the ...

Production Blog: Editing

Image
Hello Bloggers! Welcome back once again to another blog. In this blog I will be writing about our filming and editing process. The editing its self was not hard at all, it was just extremely tedious. Since we did it last year, we had more experience with it and we were almost more used to the app. The only thing that was stressing us out was iMovie. If you make one mistake, it doesn't let you go back and we kept on making mistakes after mistakes after mistakes. Connie was mostly the one that was doing the editing since it was already on her computer. The easiest part of all this was adding the movie which took almost barely any steps. The only thing we had to learn was how to do better with the volume. Background noise was a huge issue since we weren't familiar in how to block it out.  You were able to hear the wind and a lot of outside noises.  Also, since the music is loud, whenever we start talking it has to get lower and slowly fade away. That was a little hard to do. But ...

Productions Blog: Complications

Image
Hello Bloggers! Welcome back once again. In this blog I will be talking about some problems we had during the filming process which gave us some setbacks. It was a struggle with the filming process. We had multiple complications and even got into arguments due to so much redos in videos. One of the days that we filmed, it was chaotic. It was when we looked up the coordinates and went to the house where I was thrown in the pool. We had to film the scenes at that house multiple times. Everyone kept laughing. Connie started getting stressed out because she just wanted to get it over with and move on to the next scene. After so many tries on one scene, we finally got it done. Another example was when we were outside and the truck went in front of the car. During those scenes, everyone started getting distracted and having side conversations which messed up the audio. It was already getting extremely dark. So I started getting really frustrated because no one was listening and they kept lau...

Production Blog: Spooky grounds

Hello Bloggers, we're back once again with another blog. As you all may notice the title already, it sounds creepy because today in this blog we'll be focusing on me and my groups experience filming in the cemetery. The fact that we had to film at a cemetery already gave me the shivers especially since it was going to be night time. As we were driving, we were planning on certain filming that we needed and lines that we had to memorize. Once we arrived we were contemplating if the cemetery was open or not but we saw an opening and we took it. We parked the car in this pathway and hoped out. Looking around made really scared because as I have never been in a cemetery before, it wasn't a nice first experience. Moreover, we began to film as we had Ethan who is the dad walk around with a flashlight and act like he was trying to find something. We had every scene down pretty well and got it done efficiently. The only big issue was the lighting since we had to film at night. Oth...

Production Blog: Making changes

Image
Hey Bloggers! Welcome back to another blog. In this blog I will be telling you about some changes we made while filming. So first off,  Connies dad was supposed to play as the first cop that appears on one of the scenes however, we had an inconvenience, so we had to adjust to what we had and improvise. We went to the store and bought a fake mustache for myself to wear and play as the cop for that scene. I had to basically replace connies dad and play two different roles. Another change we made was when we filmed at the beach. Our original plan was to go near the ocean and look for sea shells until we found a chest. Well, while we were just all hanging out there, we explored and found an abandoned boat which improved our video a whole lot. We all got extremely excited because it would also add a really good and cool scenery to our film. We changed most of that scene since we had to cut a lot of it out due to timing. Instead of finding the chest on the sand, we found it inside of the...

Production Blog: First day Filming

Image
Hello bloggers! I hope everyone is having a great day. I am back to share some great news on the short film. Today me and my group decided that we would finally start filming. I know this is the day you all have been waiting for. We hopped on a facetime call and we started sharing ideas on how we would start. I suggested that we should go to my house to film but we ended up scratching that plan off. After maybe 40 minutes of thinking about our decision we finally came to a decision. We ended up filming at Connies house as it is generally close to a lot of places that would be useful for the filmmaking. So I brainstormed some ideas while on the way to Connies house. We start by choosing which scene we would do first and we decided to do a scene where the friend group is waiting to be picked up. Then after that we would go to film everyone running to the car. This took more than one try since we all stumbled on each other twice but no one got badly hurt so it was okay lol. We then ha...

Production Blog: Back to work

Image
Hello bloggers how are we doing today? I hope your day is going well. So as you know from the last blog we were getting our ideas set up to start filming.  We also finished up around a quarter of our script for the scenes which is great progress. So, today we decided that we would all work in the afternoon and hopefully get most of our tasks done. So first thing we did was go to a local park so we could get some work done in a smooth and chill environment. The weather was perfect so we got straight to work as soon as we found a nice bench. We gave different people different tasks so we would move at a quicker pace. Joao worked on the script and got most of it done and only had about a quarter left before he got tired, connie was working on the different ideas that we can include in the film and I worked on the storyboard. So after working for so long we all went to grab lunch since we were all hungry and we also deserved it. On the way there we saw a memorial place and we instantly...

Production Blog: Getting started

Image
Welcome back once again bloggers. As you all may know, me and my group are working on a short film. It took us a lot of time to figure out what we wanted to film about. We had to make sure that whatever we decided to film, would be able to be adjusted if we have any change of minds. We also thought about what props we would need for the filming process. We figured out what clothes and props we needed to make it look very realistic. So when we decided on the roles we would play, we also thought about them matching our personality. For Joao, "PJ" in the film, is the nerdy guy, the guy that comes up with all the ideas. He is the smart one of the group. We thought he fit that role very well because everyone else in the group is very hyper. We were really stuck since Joao and myself could both play the role and it was overall a pain to decide on who would play who. We stressed a lot trying to figure all of this out. We decided to go to starbucks to lock in on our work. We started ...
