Production Blog: A few things I Haven't Mentioned

Image
Hey Bloggers! Welcome back to another blog. As you may know in my previous blogs I have been making sure this opening sequence is perfect. I've been doing edits and small tweaks that has been bothering me. This blog however is going to be slightly different. This blog will be about certain things I haven't mentioned like how we got the props and the proccess. I will also be talking about the behind the scenes. So first off, we had to pick up certain props before we began filming. The first one we went for was the gorilla suit. We went to Party City to pick it up and we made sure whoever was wearing it won't sufficate. After that we bought this gallon of fake blood since we tried making our own but it didn't end up working out. The gallon of fake blood was super useful since it was easy to put it on the shirt and make the trail of blood. It made the whole scenery super realistic which was perfect. After we got the props we need we started rehearsing. We all had to make

Production Blog: Still Making a Few Edits

Hey bloggers! As you all may know we are so close in finishing our opening sequence. We having completed both of filming sessions which went really well. We then went over it and put the scenes together. After that I got one of my friends to peer review and give me his feedback. With his feedback me and my group went a tweaked the opening sequence and fixed certain flaws. I also went on myself to take a look and see what I can notice that could be fixed. I ended up noticing certain mistakes and made improvements on them. I know last blog I said that there is no more flaws but I decided to look over it today and check it out. I tried to focus more on the pace of each scene and see some things I could cut out. One of the scenes that I noticed was too long was the very first two scenes. The first scene was when Joao was getting up and answering the phone. I cut out the part where he was getting out of the bed because that was unnecessary. I cut the scene when he put the phone died and th

Production Blog: Editing

Hey bloggers welcome back. Today I will be working looking for any other extra edits I could make with the opening sequence. I will be going over what we have right now and see if I can notice any other flaws. It was somewhat difficult to notice anything due to the amount of editing we have done already. But I knew there was something missing so I watched each scene over and over again. One thing I thankfully noticed was how all the text was in the same spot. So I changed the positioning of each title to different corners. I also kept in mind to not blend it with anything from the background so I made sure I played the scene again. Every title was clear to read and it wasn't in the same spot ever scene. Next up I tried adding some transitions with the titles. For example I tried adding like a slide in transition and a slide out transtition to make it look smoother. Obviously I didn't use the same transitions for all of them. Once I added a transition for each one I watched the

Production Blog: Changes made from Film Review

Hey bloggers!!! Welcome back. In my last blog I teamed up with my friend to review my opening sequence so it can be as good as possible. He anaylzed everything and gave some good criticism. With that being said I will be using all those critques and improve my opening sequence with it. Me and my group came together and we decided to adjust these issues. The first issue that we needed to fix was the sound design so we got straight into it. We went to the scenes that were way too loud and we adjusted the voluming so the transitions from one scene to another was smooth. The scene in the woods was very low, to the point where we couldn't hear any of the dialogue. So with Enzo's expertise in editing he went on and tweaked with the volume a little bit until it was right. We then put it together and it souded way smoother than before making it a higher quality. Next step was to edit the lighting. My friend stated that certain scenes were too dark so we went on and made it brighter. Fo

Hey bloggers, as you all may know me and my group have completed our opening sequence. Now obviously it isn't perfect so I had one of my friends look over the film and give his honest opinion. I also asked him to pay attention to different flaws that could have some improving. He watched every scene 3-5 times to make sure he didn't miss anything. The first critizism he gave was was that certain scenes were too loud. I kept that in mind so I could discuss with my group after. He also then said that the Lighting was a little too dark for the scenes in the woods. So I talked to my group and we noted it down so we can also fix it later. These critiques helped us a lot since we want our opening scene to look as good as possible. On the other hand, my friend also gave some positive comments about our film. He said that the scenes transitioned smoothely. Meaning that the scenes were around the same length and none of them were too long. He stated that he really enjoyed the scene of us

Production Blog: Finishing Filming for our Opening Sequence

Hello bloggers, were back again and I can finally say we are done filming. Last blog I discussed our first part of the filming which came with some complications. Well the second part was far more challenging and diffcult than the second one. We had to consider how the weather was looking like, our schedules, pick the right location, etc. The right day had to be selected carefully since we need a day with clouds but no rain. Luckily, we checked the weather and encountered a perfect day for filming. That same day we met at Constanza's house and we waited until in got a little dark. When we were on the way to the park we decided to add an extra scene of us happy and dancing to some music in the car. Once we got there we selected a perfect area to put our stuff down and began filming right away. Now before we started filming we setup some rules and boundaries so we could all be safe. The first rule was to not go more than 100 meters from each other since we are in the woods and its su

Hello bloggers, welcome back. As you all may know last blog we were selecting the music that will be incorperated in our opening sequence. Today is our first official day that we will begin filming. After days of preperation we are finally ready to film. After days of scheduling and planning out a day that we all could meet up we finally were able to come together. We started filming the first part of the storyboard where it was when we wake up and get ready. We all came in sleepy clothes like pajamas and a comfortable shirt to make it seem we had just woken up. Also we had to decide whose going to be the main character of the opening sequence which means they will be shown in the camera more than the other characters. It took a minute to decide this but we ended up voting for Joao to be the main character. Moving onto the filming, our first scene we filmed Joao waking up from bed while we were driving home. Our next scene was me, Constanza and enzo arriving home to make breakfast with

Production Blog: Selecting Music for the Opening Sequence

Image
Hello everyone, we are back again with our vlog and as you all may know me and my group are currently working on our final task. Today we will be discussing what song we will use for the beggining of our thriller. As discussing with my group we decided to use two different types of music. The only issue that came with those selections is being able to bridge them together. We want our opening sequence to be nice and smooth and not unpleasing. So the first type of music that will be used is more of an upbeat, happy and overall teenager sound which will be played in the car. The second type of music that is going to be used is more suspensful and spooky to create tension and emotion for the audience. These two types of music are complete opposites which will have some difficulites including them into our opening sequence. As a group we tried to look at some opening sequences in certain movies to see how they implemented our idea. Unfortunately, we didn't encounter any similiar ideas
