Production Blog: First day Filming

Hello bloggers! I hope everyone is having a great day. I am back to share some great news on the short film. Today me and my group decided that we would finally start filming. I know this is the day you all have been waiting for. We hopped on a facetime call and we started sharing ideas on how we would start. I suggested that we should go to my house to film but we ended up scratching that plan off. After maybe 40 minutes of thinking about our decision we finally came to a decision. We ended up filming at Connies house as it is generally close to a lot of places that would be useful for the filmmaking. So I brainstormed some ideas while on the way to Connies house. We start by choosing which scene we would do first and we decided to do a scene where the friend group is waiting to be picked up. Then after that we would go to film everyone running to the car. This took more than one try since we all stumbled on each other twice but no one got badly hurt so it was okay lol. We then had to film everybody getting in the car as if we were about to go out. So we filmed myself and Joao  jumping into the back of the truck which turned out pretty good. However it took some tries to get the timing down from the both of them. Then we filmed one of our actors cleaning a car and getting paid for it since it was one of our scenes. After that we ended up filming  a few extra scenes with the group. These would serve as backup in case we wanted to change anything. But that will be it for today. See ya later bloggers! Hope you guys have a wonderful day!

Movie Research: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

For the past week the group has been researching various thriller movies, the movie we're researching at the moment is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (TCM) is a long term favorite amongst scare enthusiasts and has touched the hearts of millions of fans. However, the most recent installment of the series is poorly rated by many due to its poor storyline. The TCM is a scary film and has some notable scenes that draw out fear in the audience but lack of interesting storyline makes it bland and unentertaining. The TCM uses tracking shots, close-ups and inserts. The TCM also uses very detailed props and costumes to immerse audiences such as chainsaws and leather masks. The TCM fantastically uses jump scares and music to intensify the film and it truly terrifies the audience. Our Pitch

These are our pitches we came up with for our opening sequence Pitch A: A group of students plan out an innocent camping trip and begin to find out that there is something out there, something watching them the entire time. Pitch B: A family hires a personal chef, the chef sneakily steals items from their house covering his tracks no matter the cost. Pitch A seemed a little cliche to us at first but it was a very feasible idea that could still be loads of fun and really well produced. We found that it would be simpler to use effective music in a thriller as there are loads more films and media work using suspenseful music. We also had a slight plan as to where we would film the sequence, Oleta State Park. We also had the camping equipment necessary for the props and costumes allowing our budgets to be put towards other things.
