Production Blog: Getting started

Welcome back once again bloggers. As you all may know, me and my group are working on a short film. It took us a lot of time to figure out what we wanted to film about. We had to make sure that whatever we decided to film, would be able to be adjusted if we have any change of minds. We also thought about what props we would need for the filming process. We figured out what clothes and props we needed to make it look very realistic. So when we decided on the roles we would play, we also thought about them matching our personality. For Joao, "PJ" in the film, is the nerdy guy, the guy that comes up with all the ideas. He is the smart one of the group. We thought he fit that role very well because everyone else in the group is very hyper. We were really stuck since Joao and myself could both play the role and it was overall a pain to decide on who would play who. We stressed a lot trying to figure all of this out. We decided to go to starbucks to lock in on our work. We started brainstorming about the scenes and how they would loop and we had many different ideas. After a lot of thinking, we finally decided what we wanted. We also worked on how the talking would go in the scenes as far as how much talking would be done and who would be doing it. We made sure that we knew what to say so we had to memorize certain lines. Since it can only be 5 minutes long, we had to try our best to not make it so long. We wrote down a lot of ideas. At this point we started getting excited to film our full movie. I already wanted to see what the final product was going to look like. We spent 5 hours at starbucks that day, so we decided to call it a night. I will get back to you guys in another blog with more information! see ya bloggers!

 In the film Manhunt they have various titles displayed throughout the opening sequence. These titles include the studio, production company, director and inspiration for the film. The titles also include where the film is taking place. The last title to be shown is the title of the movie itself and then the background changes to a very bright red emphasizing the film title apart from the rest. The images emphasized during the opening sequence are that of terrorists which sets the concept of the movie up and gives the audience an understanding of what they're about to watch. Movie Research: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

For the past week the group has been researching various thriller movies, the movie we're researching at the moment is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (TCM) is a long term favorite amongst scare enthusiasts and has touched the hearts of millions of fans. However, the most recent installment of the series is poorly rated by many due to its poor storyline. The TCM is a scary film and has some notable scenes that draw out fear in the audience but lack of interesting storyline makes it bland and unentertaining. The TCM uses tracking shots, close-ups and inserts. The TCM also uses very detailed props and costumes to immerse audiences such as chainsaws and leather masks. The TCM fantastically uses jump scares and music to intensify the film and it truly terrifies the audience. Our Pitch

These are our pitches we came up with for our opening sequence Pitch A: A group of students plan out an innocent camping trip and begin to find out that there is something out there, something watching them the entire time. Pitch B: A family hires a personal chef, the chef sneakily steals items from their house covering his tracks no matter the cost. Pitch A seemed a little cliche to us at first but it was a very feasible idea that could still be loads of fun and really well produced. We found that it would be simpler to use effective music in a thriller as there are loads more films and media work using suspenseful music. We also had a slight plan as to where we would film the sequence, Oleta State Park. We also had the camping equipment necessary for the props and costumes allowing our budgets to be put towards other things.
