Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

Hey bloggers! Today I will be watching , commenting , and comparing the short film 9 and the full length version of it

Short Film: While watching this short film I noticed that the quality of the film itself when it came to graphics were not great as and there is no dialogue between the characters in the film. This version was clearly a summarized version and only plays one of the characters flashbacks for a good amount of the film. The sounds from the film only come from the physical sound effects and nothing from the characters. Even when doll number 5 was laughing no sound was produced. The plot of the short film was when the doll's friend was killed and he had to survive on his own to complete whatever mission he had. The characters both are clearly different as the doll number five seems to be very experienced and has gone through things due to his scars. He is a much braver character as he was trying to protect the other doll from the beast and even tried to fight it. The other doll on the other hand is shy and very anxious. He is smart but lacks the braveness at the start of the film. However towards the end of the short film he fights off the beast and shows his bravery. There aren't too many special effects on this film as there are only some things like the device with the green flashing light and some other edited features. The short film had the sci-fi style and followed a pretty classical cinematic style.

Full length: The full film had visibly better graphics and more effort put into the editing of the film. There were more characters included as well and there was also dialogue included between the characters this time. The plot is based off a doll which gains part of a soul and later finds others who are like him who are also dolls with different numbers. Each doll was a little different either by looks or personality as a whole. There were two mute dolls, a doll that served as  a leader and many other different personalities between the dolls. The film used CGI to be able to animate the characters also the design of the characters as each had a different look to them. Some of the animations were also considered part of the special effects. The style is based off its distinctive for its dark, immersive, and visually-driven storytelling. It reflects a blend of post-apocalyptic atmosphere, steampunk aesthetics, and emotional resonance, all of which are presented through an animation lens that feels grounded yet imaginative. Here are the key aspects of its directional style

The short film "9" is a minimalist, atmospheric piece that thrives on its ambiguity and visual storytelling, while the feature-length "9" expands the narrative and themes to create a more comprehensive and accessible story. Fans of the short might prefer its raw, enigmatic quality, while others may appreciate the richer world-building and thematic exploration of the full-length film. Both versions showcase Shane Acker's unique vision and talent. The two films also have different time periods as the short only runs for around 8 minutes and the full is much longer.
