Genre Research: Horror

  • Common Camera Angles, Shots, & Movement : Common camera angles are Dutch, low, and high angles. Common shots are POV, wide shots, and extremes close ups. Common movement tracking shots and tilts. 
  • Common Mis-En-Scene : Common make up is using fake blood for bloody or gory scenes. It also just depends on the character and what facial structure they want to emphasize. Common props are weapons such as knifes, guns, or even a chainsaw. Common costumes is dark clothing and messy/frizzy hair. Common acting is usually acting scared during some scenes. Common lighting is dim lighting uses to create tension. Some even use casting shadows. Common setting is a dark, deserted area. 
  • Common editing: fade into black to build tension, the way they place their shots, and jump cuts. 
  • Common sounds during horror films is heavy breathing, footsteps, or the slashing or stabbing of flesh. Another big one is screams or whispers. 
  • Examples movies: It (2017) and Talk To Me (2022) 
  • Elements we liked - I like the Mis-En-Scene that are used in the horror genre specially the props because using blood adds to the story and make it scarier for the viewer. Another element we like are the sounds effects such as he whispers. Depending on the story line, it adds an eerie feeling to it making it more interesting to watch. 
  • Elements we didn't like - We don't like the dim lighting because it basic and doesn't add to the story. It's more the editing that connected with the lighting that helps bring the story to life.

Welcome back everyone once again! In my previous blogs I've decided my song and the editing app. Now I'll be moving on to my photos. Production Blog: Recording second part of the Music Video

 Hello bloggers, welcome back once again and today will finally be the day where I will discuss our last day recording for the music video. It was very stressful and hard working but we came through and got it done. Me and my group members have been working on this for weeks now. We went through various of complications throughout the filming. This second part of the recording took us a minute to plan because one of the problems was that we were all busy on different days. For instance one of the days me and joao couldn't go because we had soccer practice. However one of the days that we were available enzo couldn't go because he didn't have a ride to Constanzas house. Another problem that we faced was the weather as some of the days were raining or to windy to record outside. But we were able to manage through and found a day to finally record. Hello everyone! Today I will be walking through the process of producing my commercial. I'll start by outlining the steps that led to each decision I made for the production and the reasons for those decisions. In my previous blog, I mentioned that I would be using Cap Cut. However, I did further research and many people were telling me about iMovie. I heard that it is free to use and it includes many different tools for editing, capturing, and adding background music. The only issue is that I have no experience in iMovie while on the contrary, I've used Cap Cut in the past and I'm comfortable with it. Last year, I had a class called AICE PE, which inquired video editing. The app that our teacher recommended was Cap Cut as it allows easy editing and a quick technological process. Throughout the experience of using Cap Cut, I found it extremely useful and I finished my assignment for that class in no time.
